Guiding Information-
Explore Middle Tennessee’s unique and diverse fly-fishing opportunities. We float and wade for tailwater trout, stalk stream smallmouth bass and specialize in fly fishing the Cumberland River system for some of the finest inland Striped bass and Hybrid bass (Wiper) fishing in the country.
Trout Fishing- My trout fishing is based around 4 different Tailwaters in Middle Tennessee and three spring creeks all within an hour or two of Nashville. The Caney Fork, Elk, Obey and Duck Rivers all provide their own unique rich angling experience. The majority of the trips are done western drift style in custome boats specically designed for our tailwaters and modified to give the angler a comfortable experience. Often we use the boat to get to hard to reach areas then we get out and wade. The Caney Fork is our primary fishery, it's a beautiful river loaded with rainbow and brown trout. A quality regulation on brown trout has been on the river for three years now and the river has a growing population of trophy size browns. Whatever your looking for in a trout fishing trip we can customize the day to ensure you have an angling adventure you'll never forget.
Striper & Hybrid Trips - J. Percy Priest-Cumberland River System (Old Hickory- Cordell Hull) The Cumberland River System (including Old Hickory and Cordell Hull and tributaries) is arguably the greatest inland Striper fishing in the country. With two recent fly rod world records to its credit including a 43 lb fish on 12 lb test, and a 45 lb fish on 6 lb test, we think it's only a matter of time before more records fall. This is some of the most exciting fishing you can do, because the water is clear, the fish average11-15lbs, and many of the takes are visual. J.Percy Priest is a fantastic Hybrid and Striper lake five minutes from the airport in Nashville. Aggressive Hybrids are our main target here and they love to eat flies. We have landed many hybrids in the 10-16 lb range and stripers up to 30. On Priest we work in conjunction with Mitch Tinney of Tinney's Guide Service, sharing information to give you the best shot at big fish on the fly. With one or both of us on the fish every day, we have an unique advantage of knowing where the roaming fish will turn up next. If you are a striper hunter from out of state we think you will find our fly patterns and techniques to also be useful on your home water. This can be physically demanding fishing and it's usually best suited for an experienced angler who can handle casting a 9 weight for hours at a time, sometimes in the dark. Although most of our fishing is done from a boat, our wade fishing can be phenomenal.
Other Trips-We also have some amazing smallmouth bass water that can be some of the most challenging and rewarding fishing you can find anywhere. If your looking for something a little different we do "flats style" sight fishing for carp in shallow water. If you have never done it, it's a blast and a great way to prepare for a Bahamas, Keys or Yucatan trip.
