For 8 years Jay was the head Orvis Endorsed Guide and fly shop manager at Game Fair Limited in Nashville. Aside from guiding Jays outdoor writings have been  featured in the Bollinger Award winning Trout Unlimited Newsletter,  an award given to the best TU Newsletter in the country.

He has had featured articles published in Fly Fisherman Magazine (Dec 2006),

 and Tennessee Outdoor News as well as having authored a chapter in The Middle Tennessee Fishing Guide.

He has also been the featured guest on various TV outdoor shows including Tennessees Wildside and Turner Studios Off The Menu.

A leader in conservation Jay was the 2005-2006 president of the Nashville Chapter of Trout Unlimited a nonprofit organization, who’s mission is to conserve restore and protect North Americas coldwater fisheries and their watersheds. Jay is still a board member of Trout Unlimited and is very active in making sure our coldwater resources are protected for future generations.
